What I’m Reading

I’ve nicked this idea from Lamplighter. But as you will see, my reading matter is more eclectic and sometimes not as high brow as hers!

As a Probationary Methodist Minister I have to maintain a book list and this seems as good a way as any to keep a record.

See also my “What’s on my bedside table” page which has all the books waiting to be read. In theory some should eventually crop up on this page!

13th June 2007

Wisden Cricketer’s Almanack 2007
The 60 Minute Father by Rob Parsons (for a sermon I’m writing)
Prayer by Philip Yancey (Excellent. The most accessible book on prayer I’ve read.)
Sovereign by C.J.Sansom (An historic novel / detective story set during the reign of Henry VIII. Interesting.)

3rd July 2007

The naming of the dead by Ian Rankin (the latest Inspector Rebus. Fantastic you can smell the Islay malt wafting from the pages!)

30th July 2007

North Face of Soho by Clive James (Fourth Volume of his Unreliable memoirs.) Not as funny as earlier ones but you do get to learn more about the man this time.

Rabble rouser for peace by John Allen (The authorised biography of Desmond Tutu.) A very informative read that also gives a very good background to the Apartheid era in South Africa.

Bleak House by Charles Dickens. (Enough said really!)
